Piedmont’s Jayden Fuston – Presented by F&M Bank Piedmont

Jayden Fuston’s football career began early, and it’s one that has shaped him into a player that Piedmont High School can be proud of. “My dad started me in football when I was in first grade, and I have always loved it,” Jayden shared. That early introduction to the sport sparked a lifelong passion, and his father has been a constant source of inspiration. “My dad inspired me to take up football because he was pretty good whenever he played. I would also say my parents are my biggest influence, along with coach Erik Ford, my wrestling coach.”

Now a leader for the Wildcats, Jayden takes his role seriously. “My role is to be a leader, set a good example, and help my team win games,” he explained. Whether it’s through his on-field play or by trying “to do the right thing at all times on and off the field,” Jayden leads with integrity and effort.

This season, Jayden’s goals are ambitious, but attainable through hard work. “My goals for this season are to practice on Thanksgiving, win all 10 regular-season games, and have over 1,000 rushing yards.”

While his career has been marked with many highs, it’s the challenges that have fueled his growth. “The most challenging part of my career thus far has been my sophomore year when I fumbled in the state quarterfinals and lost us the game.” That moment, though tough, shaped his resilience. He also recalled a game against Bishop McGuinness where he “broke his finger in the first quarter, then had the best game of his life.”

Looking to the future, Jayden hopes to continue playing at the collegiate level, and after his football career, plans to pursue a nursing degree. “Even if it doesn’t work out with football, the hard things that I have put myself through have made me a better person along the way.”

From the first-grade field to the Friday night lights, Jayden Fuston is a testament to dedication, hard work and resilience, marking the Wildcat field for years to come.
