Piedmont’s Kenley Crawford – Basketball Spotlight – Team Oklahoma

Piedmont’s Kenley Crawford

Piedmont High School’s Kenley Crawford is a junior this season has a team captain for head coach Joe Crawford. Kenley is following in the footsteps of her older sister who moved on to successful college careers.

“Kenley will be a three-year started this season. Has college offers at the D2 level. She plays behind some big shoes of her three sisters who have gone on to play college,” coach Crawford said.

A leader on and off the court, Kenley said she loves this team and being around her teammates on and off the floor.

“The thing I love most about my team is how close we are, it really is a family,” said Kenley. “I would say Ava Watkins is the most vocal and Najya Wilson and Braelynn Ward can always make me laugh.”

As for her game, Kenley has continued to work to improve in all aspects of basketball.

“I am definitely a shooter so I would say that is one of my strengths, but I definitely look forward to improve on attacking to the basket,” Kenley said.

The junior said she looks to one of her sisters for inspiration.

“My sister Delanie inspires me because of her journey she has had through her college and overseas career,” said Kenley.

Kenley is a Fellowship of Christian Athletes leader, a program she is invested in, and she runs track. As a player, Kenley said she enjoyed the ups and downs and all the surprises that have come her way.

“I think the biggest surprise of my career is how well we transferred from Class 5A to 6A my freshman year, we competed much better than I had expected,” said Kenley. “My favorite moment was beating Norman North in Regionals freshman year.”

In the classroom, Kenley said her favorite subject is Government and her favorite teacher is Mr. Sheldon, her Government teacher. In her free time, Kenley said she enjoys shopping and hanging out with friends and family.

This season Kenley is looking forward to playing the role of spoiler.

“I am looking forward to upsetting teams because a lot of teams underestimate us and our capabilities which definitely motivates us so I am excited about that,” Kenley said.
