Piedmont’s Austen Mueller – Golf Spotlight – Presented by F&M Bank

Piedmont’s Austen Mueller

It’s not common to know what you want to do when you’re four years old, but Piedmont High School’s Austen Mueller knew he wanted to play golf. Mueller is now a junior in high school and said he is loving the competition and his teammates.

“What I love most is just making memories on a golf trip or tournament,” Mueller said. “Piedmont supports what I do in school and out of school golf. They are flexible with my schedule which I appreciate too.”

Mueller and his teammates have continued to work hard to make this a great season for themselves and the team.

“I have really improved on my putting since the past year,” Mueller said. “Grayson May has really stepped up as our 5th man.”

His favorite course to play is Oak Tree National where he shot a 70. When he has a little free time, Mueller said you can find him hitting balls and having fun.

“I enjoy just hitting golf balls and having fun not working on anything,” Mueller said. “My plans are to travel to a few out of state tournaments.”

Playing college golf and eventually making the pro tour is the goal for Mueller. He said he finds inspiration in his grandfather.

“My grandpa has been an inspiration to me from being my life coach and golf coach since I could pick up a golf club,” said Mueller.
