PIEDMONT WILDCATS
Coach: JEFF HALL
8-4
Piedmont returns a lot of experience from a talented group off an 8-4 season, and seventh-year head coach Jeff Hall believes his veteran core can take the next step in 2026. The Wildcats return eight offensive starters and seven defensive starters, and with a proven flexbone attack and a physical defense, Piedmont has the continuity and talent to compete for a deep playoff run. Hall’s program has built momentum over the past several seasons, and with so much experience returning, the Wildcats believe they can make a serious push in the postseason.
The Wildcats run the flexbone offense and lean on a physical offensive line and multiple running backs to control the tempo and move the chains. Piedmont’s success will depend on establishing the run game and wearing down opposing defenses with physicality and execution. Senior offensive lineman Sean Maguire (6-4, 285) anchors the front and gives the Wildcats elite size and power up front, while junior running back Knoxton Rallo (5-10, 170), senior quarterback Jordin Holman (5-10, 190) and junior running back Brooks Backus (5-10, 210) give Piedmont multiple ball carriers who can operate the triple option and keep defenses guessing. The Wildcats’ ability to execute the flexbone with precision will be key to controlling games and creating opportunities for big plays.
Defensively, Piedmont bases out of a 4-2-5 and returns seven starters with size and playmaking ability across the board. Senior linebacker Gavin Mason (6-2, 200) is a three-year starter and a 4.0 student, and Hall says “his leadership abilities are second to none” and he is “a big reason for the success that we have had.” Mason will be the heartbeat of the defense and the leader of a veteran unit that has experience playing in big games. Senior defensive lineman Willie Cruz (6-4, 315) provides elite size and power up front, senior outside linebacker Tatym Stahlman (6-1, 180) brings versatility and speed to the second level, senior defensive end Easton Callison (6-1, 190) adds pressure off the edge, and junior defensive back Nolan Bjerk (5-10, 170) contributes in the secondary. Sophomore linebacker Brody Williams (6-2, 200) is working his way into the starting group as a freshman, and Hall says Williams’ “size, speed and natural abilities allow him to cover a ton of ground and his physicality allows him to finish tackles,” giving Piedmont another impact player at the second level as the Wildcats look to build on last season’s results.
