Piedmont Baseball
When Piedmont entered the 2025 season, they were coming off the success of their first season in Class 6A ball. Head coach Adam Skokowski said coming into the season the strength of the team would be their pitching.
“The strength of this year’s team should be in our pitching staff. We are returning our No. 1 and have a lot of experienced junior and sophomore pitching coming back. How well we do this year will depend on how we work to execute team offense and how well we control the things we can control and handle adversity,” said coach Skokowski.
His prediction was accurate.
With nearly twenty wins to their credit, coach Skokowski said the team has impressed him in many ways this year.
“I think the resilience of this team has impressed me this year. We have been down in 8 of our 19 wins to this point and have come back to win. Our kids stay mentally strong and continue to compete even when down,” said coach Skokowski.
The entire team is working hard to continue the success established last season, but plan to do it in their own way.
“The whole team stepped up this season offensively. Last year we had two players hit over .300 by the end of the season. Currently we have eight players hitting over .300 (Jack Guinn, Ethan Burns, Blaine Hollingshead, Nathan Ma, Jarret Isennock, Clayton Harrington, Zane Pruitt) and three more hitting over .280 (Drake May, Pryce McClure, Reid Smith). As a team we are hitting .320,” Skokowski continued. “Our No. 1 and No. 2 have been tough on Monday and Tuesday. Catcher Lindley and Drake May have really held down for us on Monday and Tuesday. Tucker Kipf, Pryce McClure, Titus Boice, Carsten Brown, and Braden Dougherty have done a great job in relief and starting on weekends.”
This team continues to learn about itself as the season gets closer to tournament time.
“I think they are learning we are at our best when we play together and celebrate others’ successes more than our own. Navigating your way through a 6A season can be tough but if they bring passion to each game, we have a better chance at success,” said coach Skokowski.
