Piedmont’s Hudson Hite – Basketball Spotlight – Hite CPA

Piedmont’s Hudson Hite

By Trina Walker

Shooting hoops out on the driveway with neighborhood friends and family is an activity most young basketball players have experienced. Hudson Hite is no different. The hours spent playing in the driveway, along with shooting on small goals while watching basketball on TV, led him to play high school basketball.

Representing Piedmont High School as a student-athlete is a role this senior takes seriously. Beyond exhibiting good sportsmanship and leadership, he wants to use his position to help people become closer to God. Hite says he learned the best advice at camp Kanakuk. The message there was, “God first, others second, I’m third.”

“Seeing the impact I can have on people,” he says, “it is something I hope I use for the right things.”

Becoming a better leader and overcoming challenges are skills Hite gained playing basketball. He is passionate about the sport and how it has contributed to
making him a stronger person. Growing together as a team and working to find ways to win against anyone is fun. According to Hite, it doesn’t get better than hanging out with his teammates and friends for hours every day. Some of the best memories of playing were the times spent with teammates during tournaments in hotels and messing around with them, he says. When asked which teammate left the biggest impression, Hite credits Ethan Holliday.

“Ethan was a senior my sophomore year. He helped me with my confidence a lot when we played together,” Hite said.

Hite’s grandpa is his biggest inspiration. The way he worked for everything makes him a role model in Hite’s life. His favorite teacher is Mr. Adams, who is easy to relate to and genuinely cares about his students. Hite likes to play guitar and travel. Being an active person who enjoys the outdoors, his favorite vacation was when he went hiking in the mountains.

“I went to Yosemite for my 18th birthday with my dad and brother. We got to hike up a few of the mountains there,” he said.

After high school, he plans to continue playing basketball in college. With the continued support of his family, Hite looks forward to earning many more accomplishments in his future. “Thank you, Mom and Dad, for believing in me,” praises Hite.
